ALGEBRA and ALGEBRA II PAP

SYLLABUS

A. Identify the mathematical domains and ranges of functions and determine reasonable values for continuous and discrete situations.

B. Collect & organize data, make & interpret scatterplots, fit the graph of a function to the data, interpret the results, and predict and make decisions.

C. Use factoring and properties of exponents to simplify expressions and transform and solve equations.

D. Use complex numbers to describe solutions of quadratic equations.

E. Analyze situations and formulate systems of equations in two or more unknowns or inequalities into unknowns to solve problems. F. Use algebraic methods, graphs, tables, or matrices, to solve systems of equations or inequalities.

G. Identify and sketch graphs of parent functions, including linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, absolute value, square root, and reciprocal of x. H. Describe the effects of parameter changes on the graph of parent functions.

I. Describe a conic section as the intersection of a plane and a cone.

J. Identify a conic section from a given equation & use completing the square.

K. Interpret and describe the effects of changes in the parameters of quadratic functions in applied and mathematical situations.

L. Analyze situations involving quadratic functions and formulate quadratic equations or inequalities to solve problems.

M. Determine solutions of square root equations using graphs, tables, and connect inverses of square root functions with quadratic functions.

N. Formulate equations and inequalities based on rational functions, use a variety of methods to solve them, and analyze the solutions.

O. Formulate equations and inequalities based on exponential and logarithmic functions, use a variety of methods to solve, and analyze solutions.

P. Determine solutions of exponential and logarithmic inequalities using graphs and tables.
